On behalf of the Organising Committee, it is our great pleasure to welcome you to THEME 2026 (Technology Enhanced Medical Education), held in Makassar from 29–31 October 2026.
This year, we proudly present our theme: “Shaping the Future of Health Professions Education, Healthcare and Research through Advanced Technologies and Collaborative Practice.”
In a rapidly evolving digital era, the integration of advanced technologies into health professions education and healthcare systems is no longer optional—it is essential. This conference invites educators, clinicians, researchers, and policymakers to come together in reimagining how we teach, learn, collaborate, and deliver care in ways that are adaptive, inclusive, and future-ready.
Through a series of interdisciplinary symposia, we explore key dimensions of this transformation. From designing adaptive and personalized learning environments powered by artificial intelligence, to strengthening healthcare systems through innovation, research, and collaborative practice; from advancing knowledge management systems that transform information into actionable intelligence, to shaping national and regional strategies in medical education; and finally, to redefining competency assessment in the age of AI with a focus on authenticity, professionalism, and data-driven decision-making.
Together, these conversations reflect a shared commitment to not only keeping pace with change, but actively shaping it. We believe that the future of health professions education lies at the intersection of technology, humanism, and collaboration.
